Awareness of science and technology in children
Advances in science and technology are essential for every country and for this there is an urgent need to raise awareness of science and technology in our young generation, especially children. Children try to do what is taught to them from the beginning and what they see. Every human being has a deep connection with the effects and experiences of childhood and adolescence in the future. If children are placed in an environment of science and technology where they are exposed to daily scientific experiments, they will be interested in these things and thus science awareness will be created in children. If these children are trained in an environment where their passion is related to science and technology, then a new invention will emerge in the country almost every two to four days.
Science is called knowledge in Urdu and knowledge means to know or gain awareness, to observe the environment around you, to think about different natural things and then to experiment on it is called scientist. One who observes and thinks and draws a conclusion. Children can do all this very easily and today’s children can make great things as soon as they see it. By inculcating science and technology in children, we can achieve many inventions.
There is no denying that knowledge is the jewel of man and it beautifies man. So we can use this education to promote science and technology. If one and a half hours are spent on scientific experiments one day during the week in educational institutions or one day in a year is devoted to scientific experiments. On this day, teachers provide important information about science and technology to children and give children the opportunity to create new things. In addition, children’s science shows should be held throughout the year.
There is no shortage of intelligence in Pakistan and this has been proved by 14-year-old Babar Iqbal from Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. The young boy set four world records in the field of information technology even at a young age. Babar Iqbal set the first world record at the age of nine. After achieving four world records at such a young age, Microsoft selected Babar Iqbal for free education in the United States. Just as Javed Iqbal set four world records in the world of information technology despite his young age, so too can another child make a scientific invention tomorrow.
There is a need to promote science and technology at the level of educational institutions. Non-government schools have one day or another every week, such as Color Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Fruit Day, Food Day and others. Celebrate which is an important source of information for children. In the same way, we can celebrate a day in the name of science and technology. By the way, according to UNESCO, World Science Day is celebrated all over the world on November 10 every year, but it would be a good idea to dedicate one day for the promotion of science and technology in educational institutions at the national level as well.
The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) is working to promote science and technology in the country. PSF is setting up five science centers across the country that will work for the advancement of science. The construction of these centers will be completed in a period of three years at a cost of 257.7 million. Of these five science centers, two will be built in Balochistan and the rest in other provinces. In addition, PSF plans to build science clubs in 100 schools across the country in a period of three years at a cost of eighty-five point nine million.
In collaboration with PSF, science at Pakistan Monument Museum Islamabad. The Technology Exhibition is expected to be held during the year 2011-12. Apart from PSF, National Academy of Young Scientists, Pakistan Science Club and other institutions are also working for the promotion of science and technology. It is very sad to know that Science Day is celebrated all over the world every year. Yes, but last year Science Day was not celebrated in our country due to financial and other reasons. We are talking about the promotion of science and technology, but we do not celebrate the upcoming World Science Day next year. The government of Pakistan needs to make various arrangements for the promotion of science and technology.
